Last April we welcomed Tom Frear to the Studios of the Arts, and wow – what an addition he has been to our family! Tom is a man of many talents, and believe it or not, most of them are unknown to our lesson community! So today – we’re going to change that!
Side note: If you are not involved in our guitar and percussion community, let me briefly introduce you to this guy:
Tom plays guitar and percussion – and has been for almost 15 years!
- Graduated from Chadron State College in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Music Business
- Tom is an AWARD WINNER!! Among them is the Award of Excellence from the Chadron State College Music Department and the Outstanding Solo Award (on guitar) for four consecutive years at the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival!!
- He has experience in teaching, performing and recording
- Tom has attended the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, as part of the Generation Next
On staff, Tom is customarily introduced as a guitar guru – who also plays the drum set. Although Tom does play a mean guitar (seriously, check out the Brandon Jones Band), it is true that the drum set is a close second; yet, something you probably don’t know: Tom is an avid Electric Bass player and loves to play the Upright Jazz Bass. The Upright Jazz Bass. *insert mouth drop* … For those of you who are unaware of what that means: Tom is Awesome. That’s right, with a capital A. Being the Upright Jazz Bass player in a jazz or combo group equates to the bass drummer of any band – the heart and soul. Oh yes.
Ladies and Gentlemen, to say Tom is one diverse musician, is a gross understatement! And to think we were only tapping less than a quarter of his awesomeness!
Unfortunately, I cannot divulge much more than this at this time… but, in the future of Batchelder’s Studio of the Arts, you can expect great things from this guy. Tom is planning to bring great fun, and many new exceptional programs to you!
…We have many new things afoot! And they are all marvelous!
Meanwhile, I will just post this here…
