The Concert Band is open to students who are just beginning or currently in a band program. Designed for optimal learning experience, the curriculum structure has students attending sectionals one day per week, finishing the week with a full ensemble rehearsal. Students will study their specific instrument technique- and musicality- building exercises, while also preparing fun literature for the end of the 9 week session showcase concert!

  • Sectionals held Monday through Thursday at 10:00 (instrument choice will determine day)
  • Full ensemble held every Friday at 10:00
  • Taught by Mrs. Mallory Dekker
  • $99 which includes the rental of an instrument and music check-out; the method book and practice journal are not included

 

The Concert Choirs are open to students in grades 4-12. Divided by school age, each choir will focus on ear training and whole group musicality. To ensure students are getting the maximum educational practice, sectionals will be included during the week study in addition to a full ensemble rehearsal. Exciting and fun literature will be studied for the final showcase concert at the end of the 9 week session!

  • Grades 4-8 Choir: Tuesday and Thursday sectional/rehearsals at 11:00 – Final schedule TBD after enrollment
  • Grades 9-12 Choir: Monday/Wednesday/Friday sectional/rehearsals at 11:00 – Final schedule TBD after enrollment

The Orchestra is open to students who are just beginning or currently in a orchestra program. Through the use of sectionals and full ensemble rehearsals, students will develop skills in an educationally sound environment that is focused on musicality and individual instrumental technique. Just like the Choirs and Band, the Orchestra will also produce a end of 9 week session showcase concert with fun and exciting literature!

  • Sectionals will be held at 12:00 every Monday/Wednesday/Friday (instrument choice will determine day)
  • Full ensemble held at at 12:00 every Tuesday/Thursday

  • $99 which includes the rental of an instrument and music check-out; the method book and practice journal are not included

 

Pre-Band is specifically designed for ages 5 to 11 to help develop skills for band instruments. Using the brand new NuVo instruments, which are extremely easy to put air through, and are light weight and durable, students are sure to excel and have fun doing so! Over the 9 week session, this curriculum will focus on ear training and reading music.

  • Tuesday and Thursday, 3:00-3:45
  • Taught by Mrs. Mallory Dekker
  • $99 which includes the rental of an instrument and music check-out

 

Keys of Mind’s Pre-School Rock was conceived especially for the youngest of music enthusiasts ages 3 to 5. Working with a variety of musical instruments, children will be able to explore several areas of music: from dabbling with piano and learning easy to play songs with only five fingers, exploring the NuVo instruments, guitar and violin, singing, to learning about different genres of music the child is sure to have a blast!

  • Tuesday and Thursday, 2:00-2:45
  • Taught by Mrs. Mallory Dekker
  • $99 which includes the use of instruments used in class and other materials

 

If you are currently enrolled in lessons at Batchelder’s Studio of the Arts or if you just want to know more, we are offering a Theory Class this summer. The curriculum will study the basics of music theory, starting from the beginning and progressing as far as the 9 week session allows. Working out of a text book, this class is structured like any other classroom.

  • Two class rotation: 1:00-1:45 on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
  • Taught by Mrs. Mallory Dekker
  • $99, does not include the required text

  • Keys of Mind’s Sessions and Songwriting is perfect for your artist ages 12-17 who enjoys writing their own music, and collaborating with others.
    Taught by both Becky Atchley and Tom Frear, as active performing musicians, they will help each member to build their songs, and to work together to perform and record as a band, as well as a solo artist with a backing band!
  • This class meets every Tuesday night from 6:00-7:30 p.m. All attendees will practice independently together in person and with our online program, JamKazam!
  • No experience necessary for the lyricist or singer
  • Instrumentalists must have atleast two years experience in their instrument
  • This group will work on individual and group pieces.
  • All genres of music welcome!
  • $99 for the entire 9-week summer session!

 

Partnered with Batchelder’s, Keys of Mind will be offering a Kids Musical Theatre Camp designed for ages 6 to 11.

Focusing on building the foundations of acting, choreography, costume and set designing, as well as beginning singing and sight reading. This years production was originally written by Ms. Becky Atchley, and is a hilarious musical adventure based around a narrator to the world’s most beloved stories – but the narrator has gone missing just moments before all stories get to that “really good part”!
 In order for everyone to get their happy endings, they must work together – and fast! – to find the lost narrator! Throughout the course of the 8 week session students will be re-working the original play to make it 100% their own and will be performing it at the end of session.
We invite all writers, actors, designers and singers to join us for the hilarious musical-comedy, “Has Anyone Seen The Narrator?”

  • Includes private acting and vocal coaching
  • All attendees help design their own costumes and sets!
  • $99
  • Billing for this camp is independent from Batchelder’s, as it will go into a grant fund for an overseas adventure for students and families to study the arts!

 

Keys of Mind, partnered with Batchelder’s, is offering a Teens Musical Theatre Camp for ages 12-17 who love to act, create, sing and dance.
The camp will focus on the foundations of acting, choreography, costume and set design, as well as singing. Just like the Kids Camp, the students will be adapting the original work by Ms. Becky Atchley, and will be performing at the end of the 8 week session. This years production is a tenderly funny musical revolving around a 15-year-old orphan, Dee, who was sent to live with her biological grandmother in London. whom she’s never met. The story follows Dee as she and a mysterious neighbor connect over lost memories and discover more about themselves.
We invite all to come get “lost” with us for our summer dinner theatre production of, “Second Star To The Right”!

Baby and Me is a continuing class focused on the bond between baby and the primary caregiver. This class is structured to further baby’s mind and motor skills through music exploration by incorporating all forms of music, some art creations, playing with instruments, and dance.

  • Time: Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m or 3:00 p.m
  • Crafting and Outdoor Days!
  • Monthly gifts and weekly take-homes!
  • No classes for Keys of Mind the week of July 3rd
  • Taught by Ms. Becky Atchley
  • $40/month

This is a fabulous class to engage with other parents/guardians, and to create memories that will last a lifetime while helping to promote a lifetime of healthy skills for baby!   -Ms. Becky Atchley

 

Also continuing through the summer is Bella Vive. This show choir for teens is focused on writing and arranging songs, developing choreography, stage presence, and learning the foundations of recording. Students of this class work both individually and unite to learn and create productions.

Special Announcement: ADULT CLASSES

We are extremely excited to announce that for the first time ever, Batchelder’s Studio of the Arts will be hosting a summer session for Adult Jazz Band & Choir! Focusing on the elements of the jazz standards, with some occasional theory, this class will be the mid-week jam session we all need!

  • Wednesday 6:30-7:30
  • Choir directed by: Ms. Andrea Fischer
  • Band directed by: Mrs. Mallory Dekker
  • $99 which includes the rental of an instrument and music check-out

 

Joining our Adult Summer Session line-up is the long awaited Adult Orchestra! Beginners will be able to learn the foundations of string methods and technique while working as a group to create beautiful music.

  • $99 which includes the rental of an instrument and music check-out, but no other materials
